2. Strange and Excessive Noise
Two significant types of clutch problems produce strange noises — slipping and sticking.
A slipping clutch causes the engine not to spin at the same rate as the wheels, which makes the UTV challenging to drive and may cause it to stall out. A sticking clutch will cause the engine to stall out when you try to accelerate.
The most common cause of a stuck clutch is excessive wear on the release bearing or pressure plate. The release bearing may be worn or damaged from overuse or other factors such as oil contamination. The pressure plate may be worn out from excessive use or improper maintenance (source).
Alternatively, your UTV may have worn-out friction plates inside your transmission case (which holds all your gears together). This usually happens after many years or miles on your UTV. However, if you notice any unusual noises inside your transmission when you shift gears, this could indicate that something needs looking into before it’s too late!

The most common cause of a sticking clutch is oil contamination.
If you drive your UTV often, you must change your oil regularly. This will help prevent excess wear on your clutch plates, which reduces their effectiveness over time and can lead to slippage problems down the line.

Additionally, if you experience delayed shifts in your Yamaha YXZ1000R, your vehicle’s transmission fluid might be contaminated or low. In this case, you should change the transmission fluid (source).
